Bhamari – Matsyasana
Is your throat heavy and congested? Is your voice hoarse and your larynx irritated?
By practicing Bhamari Pranayama and Matsyasana (Fish Pose), you can relieve throat congestion and soothe your vocal cords.


During Bhamari, the vibration created in your throat and larynx acts like a massage, increases blood circulation in the throat area, and relaxes the vocal cords.
When practicing Matsyasana, the head tilts backward and the muscles around the throat stretch. This stretch improves blood flow to the throat and larynx, releases muscular tension, and calms the nerves in the neck and throat.
What else can you do?
Let’s get a little help from turnips.
Many people dislike their smell and taste, but here’s how to make them delicious
Slice two turnips and two apples. Add a little olive oil to a pot and mix in 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom powder, 1/4 teaspoon of rose powder, and two pinches of saffron.
Once the oil and spices are warm, add the sliced turnips and apples. Then add 1–2 tablespoons of grape molasses and a little lemon juice. Cover the pot and let them steam until soft.
After cooking, drizzle a little honey over them and enjoy this mixture two or three times a day as a snack when your throat feels congested.
Another remedy
Finely chop one clove of garlic. In a small pot, mix it with 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon of rose powder, one cup of milk, and half a cup of water. Let the mixture simmer gently until the water evaporates and only one cup of milk remains.
Then pour this medicinal garlic milk into a blender with 10 soaked and peeled almonds and 1–2 teaspoons of honey. Blend well and drink it on an empty stomach. Do not take it after meals.
