Salt in Ayurvedic Perspective

Written By: Setareh Kiumarsi

What do You know about salt?

Did you know that a bit of salt in Ayurvedic perspective help digestion?
The presence of salty taste in food enhances the flavor of food and it stimulates salivation. Moreover, it absorbs the undigested mucus in your digestive tube.Think of the times that you put salt on icy sidewalks!

So before starting your meal put a pinch of rock salt on your tongue and rub it on your teeth!
However, remember that a bit of  it improves digestion while too much of it down your digestion and  fills the digestive tube with toxins and undigested mucus. Think of eating salty snacks or salty cheese!

You can find helpful foods for digestion, like digestive salad, digestive tea and digestive yogurt drink in our website.

But which kind is better for us?

You must know that table salt has much less minerals than rock salt or sea salt!

Rock salt and sea salt are full of different minerals that our body needs (such as sodium, chloride, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, etc.)

Did you know that if you consume them in moderation, they don’t have the various side effects that table salt has (such as high blood pressure, edema, thick blood, etc.)?! Did you know that Himalayan pink salt is very balances, it is the best salt for cooking, and it calms down all the doshas if it is consumed in moderation?!
