Ingredients:

Yogurt or kefir: ¼ cup

Boiling water: ¾ cup

Spice mix #1:

A pinch of saffron powder + ¼ teaspoon cardamom powder + a pinch of nutmeg powder + a pinch of rose powder + 1–2 pinches of salt

Spice mix #2:

¼ teaspoon black cumin powder + a pinch of rose powder + 1–2 pinches of salt

Spice mix #3:

¼ teaspoon fennel powder + ¼ teaspoon cumin powder + ¼ teaspoon coriander seed powder + 1–2 pinches of salt

Instructions:

Pour ¼ cup of yogurt or kefir into a glass.

Add a little boiling water and mix well with a fork until fully combined.

Then fill the rest of the glass with boiling water and add one of the spice mixes above. Stir well.

(If you can blend the mixture in a blender for 1 minute, it will be even better.)

Your digestive lassi is ready!

This drink should be consumed warm like tea, either with meals or two hours after eating.

Digestive lassi, is one of the most effective formulas for reducing Vata.

When consumed cold, lassi extinguishes the digestive fire (Agni), slows digestion, and fills the gut with undigested mucus and toxins.

However, when consumed warm and spiced, it acts like a digestive nectar… strengthening the digestive fire and balancing Vata (air) and Kapha (phlegm).

You can adjust the spice blend based on your body’s constitution and imbalances.

The suggested mixes above are suitable for most people, except those with severe Pitta (bile) imbalance.

Such individuals can instead use:

a pinch of cardamom + a pinch of rose powder + 1–2 pinches of salt.

People with a Kapha-dominant constitution (naturally more phlegmatic) should replace cow’s yogurt with goat or camel yogurt, since cow dairy is heavy and can create toxins in their digestive tract.

If using camel lassi, mix ½ cup camel lassi with ½ cup boiling water.
