Which spices are balancing and safe for most people to use, regardless of their constitution?
Warm spices:
Fennel, saffron, turmeric, green cumin, rosemary, thyme, cardamom, cinnamon, basil.
(If you have chronic skin problems, avoid excessive use of cinnamon.)
Cool spices:
Coriander seeds, sumac, and rose petals.
Rule of thumb: When cooking, for every three parts of warm spices, use one part of cool spices.
Example: Combine turmeric + cinnamon + cumin (warm spices) with rose petals (cool spice).
