Insomnia and Ayurvedic Remedies (Insomnia 2)

Do you struggle to fall asleep?

 soup, سوپ سرماخوردگیAre you suffering from what is called insomnia and looking for Ayurvedic remedies?
Have a light and early dinner (around 6:30-7PM), like a bowl of vegetable soup or a bowl of digestive salad with a piece of chicken (you can find the recipe of the digestive salad in Ayurvedic-Persian Cooking section ).

If you felt hungry around 10PM before going to bed, have a cup of warm spiced milk. Add a pinch (about 1/8 teaspoon) of nutmeg + one pinch cardamom powder + one pinch rose or coriander powder + 1 teaspoon honey (it is important to have milk on an empty stomach).

If you did not feel hungry before bed, have a cup of warm, spiced yogurt drink! Mix 1/4cup yogurt + 3/4cup hot water with a pinch (about 1/8 teaspoon) + one pinch cardamom powder + one pinch rose or coriander powder + one pinch rock salt and drink it before bed!
Having warm and spiced dairy drinks before bed calms down your nervous system, brings Vata and Pitta back to balance and helps you have a deep and sound sleep!

Our remedies are not finished here; There are some others too,

But Be cautious!…

All of these will reduce your blood pressure! If you are suffering from low blood pressure do not overuse these remedies!

Have a cup of Chamomile/Lavender tea or Valerian tea one or two hours before bed!

Cranberry tea or cherry tea can make you sleepy. Boil one tablespoon of fresh or dry cherries or cranberries in 1 ½ cup water; let them simmer until only one-cup water is left. Add 1-2 teaspoons honey and a pinch of nutmeg to it. Have this delicious tea 1-2 hours before bed!

Tomato juice can also make you sleepy! Mix 1/2cup tomato juice with 1/2cup hot water; add a pinch of nutmeg and 1-2 teaspoons honey to it. Have this delicious juice around 4-5PM.

Do you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t fall back asleep?!

tomato juice, آب گوجه فرنگیIf you felt hungry when you woke up have one of the following mixtures:

Have a cup of warm spiced milk! Add a pinch (about 1/8 teaspoon) of nutmeg + one pinch cardamom powder + one pinch rose or coriander powder + 1 teaspoon honey.

Apply a piece of cottage cheese on a piece of toast and have it with a cup of hot water with honey and lime (1cup hot water + 1teaspoon honey + 1 teaspoon lime).

Have a ripe banana!

Have a cup of tomato juice: Mix 1/2cup tomato juice with 1/2cup hot water; add a pinch of nutmeg and 1-2 teaspoons honey to it.

If you did not feel hungry when you woke up have a cup of warm, spiced yogurt drink (Mix 1/4cup yogurt + 3/4cup hot water with a pinch (about 1/8 teaspoon) + one pinch cardamom powder + one pinch rose or coriander powder + one pinch rock salt and drink it before bed!
