Apple is a heavenly fruit… one of the most effective fruits used in liver cleansing diets (whether eaten whole or as apple juice).
In Ayurveda, apple is considered cool and dry. It is used to treat various conditions such as diarrhea, intestinal ulcers, gallstones, heart disease, high cholesterol, skin problems, high blood pressure, acid reflux, and many other imbalances.
The reason is that the fiber in apples acts like a sponge. Imagine dropping a dense sponge into a bowl of water, the apple absorbs the mucus and toxins accumulated in the digestive tract and the body’s channels.
However, raw apple has a strong drying effect. When consumed daily, it can excessively dry out the mucus in your digestive tract in addition to undigested phlegm…
So, if your digestive tract is generally dry, if you experience bloating, excessive gas, constipation, or dry joints, it is better not to consume raw apples daily.
Balancing apple:
Cook the apple with warm spices (such as cardamom, cinnamon, vanilla, or saffron) in a small amount of water. Cover the pot and steam it for 10–15 minutes. After cooling, you can drizzle a little honey on top and enjoy.
