Did you know that honey is one of the few natural sweeteners that doesn’t cause weight gain, in fact, it helps burn fat and reduce mucus (phlegm)?
What’s its quality?
Honey is warm and dry, unlike most other sweeteners such as sugar and natural syrups, which are cold and moist.
What does it do in the body?
Honey aids digestion, burns fat, promotes weight loss, relieves nausea, and is a natural remedy for colds, asthma, shortness of breath, and cough.
It also helps stop hiccups, accelerates wound healing, and is rich in antioxidants.
In Ayurveda, it’s recommended not to heat honey directly or cook with it, while in Iranian traditional medicine, heating honey is considered acceptable.
How to use it?
Do you experience bloating or a feeling of coldness in your digestive tract?
Have one teaspoon of honey after meals.
For an even better result, mix it with half a teaspoon of powdered chamomile and fennel.
Feeling nauseous or having slow digestion?
Two hours after a meal, mix a few drops of lemon juice and one scant teaspoon of honey into a glass of warm water.
(The taste should be mildly tangy, not too sweet or sour.)
Is your throat sore?
Mix half a teaspoon of turmeric powder with one teaspoon of honey.
Slowly apply a little of this mixture to the back of your throat every few minutes.
Can’t stop hiccupping?
Combine one tablespoon of castor oil with one tablespoon of honey.
Take small sips of this mixture every few minutes until the hiccups subside.
