Is your face full of pimples? Are you unhappy with your skin? Have you read the posts about dietary restrictions and cleansing diets for skin issues?
How about we explore home remedies for acne today?
Is your facial skin oily? Does it frequently get greasy? Do different types of pimples keep appearing on your skin?
All of these signs indicate that undigested phlegm has accumulated beneath your skin; this phlegm manifests as oily skin, itching, and pimples.
How can we cleanse the skin?
The following home remedies are all drying in nature. Using any of them is like putting a sponge into a bowl of water—they absorb the excess moisture from your skin and help cleanse it. How often you use them depends on your skin’s moisture and oiliness. If your skin feels dry, stop using them.
- Daily phlegm-burning face mask (can also be used on other areas of the body):
Mix equal parts clove powder (or rosemary) and neem powder. Take one teaspoon of this mixture, add a little warm water to make a loose paste, and apply it to your entire face (avoid the temples and the area between your eyebrows, the “third eye”). Leave it for 15–20 minutes, then rinse your face and apply a cotton pad soaked in rosewater. You can also use the Ananda face mask in the same way (it has stronger medicinal properties). - Grated raw potato applied as a poultice on your face.
- In half a cup of boiling water, add 1 teaspoon coriander seeds, 2–3 cloves, and 1 teaspoon green tea and let it steep. Add 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, soak a cotton pad in the mixture, massage your face for a couple of minutes, then rinse.
- Add a few drops of lemon juice to an egg white and apply it as a poultice on your face. Wash it off after 15 minutes.
- Mix ½ teaspoon turmeric and ½ teaspoon cinnamon with 2 teaspoons honey (buckwheat honey is preferred). Apply on your face and rinse after 15 minutes.
- Use a white clay mask (available online).
For dry skin:
If your skin is too dry, how can we moisturize it effectively?
- Steam therapy: One of the most effective ways to restore skin moisture is steam with hot water. Place a towel over your head and steam for about 10 minutes until your skin sweats. This method is very calming and also effective for relieving fear, anxiety, restlessness, and insomnia.
Other methods:
- Boil ½ cup rice with 2 cups of water until 1 cup of water remains. Use this rice water for skin hydration by applying it with a cotton pad.
- Mix 2 tablespoons yogurt with 1 teaspoon shaddock powder and apply on your face for 15 minutes before rinsing.
- Blend the following in a mixer:
- 1 raw cucumber
- 1 raw potato
- 2 tablespoons fresh aloe vera gel
- 1 teaspoon rosewater
Store the paste in the refrigerator and apply once a day for 15–20 minutes.
- Take an aloe vera leaf from a herbal shop (can be stored in the fridge for 2–3 weeks). Cut 1 cm daily and apply the gel to your face. This also helps reduce skin blemishes.
- Apply jojoba oil on your face.
- Whenever you use cucumber, rub the peel on your skin.
