Turnip Extract… A Natural Immune Booster…?!
Turnip is a natural antibiotic that helps cleanse the respiratory system from phlegm and undigested mucus. It’s also known to support blood formation and may help prevent certain types of cancer, especially breast and skin cancer.
However, despite all its amazing benefits, turnip can cause bloating for some people, and many dislike its strong smell and taste.
So, how can we consume turnip in a more pleasant and effective way…especially nowadays when strengthening our immune system is so important?
Here’s how to make Turnip and Honey Extract:
1. Take one large raw turnip, wash it well, and cut off the top.
2. Scoop out the inside with a spoon until it becomes like a hollow bowl.
3. Place the hollow turnip in a container with a lid.
4. Fill the hollow space with natural honey, then put the cut-off top back on like a lid.
5. Close the container and leave it at room temperature for about 12 hours.
After this time, you’ll find that a sweet, healing syrup has formed inside… this is your turnip and honey extract.
Pour it into a clean glass jar and store it in the refrigerator. (It usually keeps well for about a week.)
Whenever you feel like you’re coming down with a cold.. for example, if you notice extra mucus in your throat, a sore throat, nasal congestion, or a heavy head, take one tablespoon of this extract one to three times a day.
For children, the dose is one teaspoon, one to three times a day.
Note: Turnip is a warming vegetable, so if you already have a warm body temperament (in Ayurvedic terms), consuming too much of this extract can cause headache or insomnia.
