Tinnitus (Ear Ringing)

Halasana

Halasana – Matsyasana – Bhamari

Do you hear a ringing or buzzing sound in your ears?

Has that constant noise been bothering you lately?

In Ayurveda, tinnitus is considered a result of an imbalance in the Vata dosha.

People with a Vata-dominant constitution often have an excess of the air and ether elements in their upper body and head — which makes them prone to overthinking, anxiety, restlessness, lack of focus, and insomnia.

The excess air element in the ear channels creates inner “wind,” resulting in sound — imagine a tunnel where a gust of wind is constantly blowing.

So, which yoga poses can help bring balance?

Those that increase blood circulation toward the head, enhance internal moisture, and calm the air and space elements — restoring Vata to its natural balance.

These include Halasana (Plow Pose), Matsyasana (Fish Pose), and Viparita Karani (Legs-Up-the-Wall Pose)

Matsyasana

During Bhamari Pranayama (Humming Bee Breath), a gentle vibration is created in the ears, sinuses, and skull.

This vibration softly massages the auditory nerves and inner ear, helping to calm the entire head and nervous system.

Oil Therapy

Finely chop one clove of garlic and lightly fry it in 1 tablespoon of violet oil or sesame oil (just as you would when making garlic oil).

After it cools, strain and store it in a small glass bottle.

Two to three times a week, soak a small piece of cotton in the oil.

Lie down on the ear that does not have the ringing, then gently place the soaked cotton inside the affected ear.

Stay like this for about 10 minutes, then remove the cotton and lie on the opposite side to allow the extra oil to drain out.

Herbal Paste

Mix the following herbs in powder form, using the given proportions:

Thyme (1) + Marjoram (1) + Black Seed (1) + Cinnamon (1) + Ginger (1/8) + Cedar (3) + Myrtle (3) + Coriander Seeds (1)

(You can also use Ananda Herbal Face Mask instead of this mix.)

Combine 1–2 teaspoons of the powder with a little warm water to form a soft paste.

Apply it to your face, behind the ears, and under the earlobes.

Leave it on for 20 minutes, then wash your face.

Afterward, gently dab rosewater onto your skin using a cotton pad — or, if you dislike the smell of rose, use fresh aloe vera gel instead.

Herbal Tea

Drink the following herbal infusion 2–3 times daily:

Lemon Verbena (1) + Cinnamon stick (1) + Chamomile (1) + Rose petals (1)

Add 1 teaspoon of this mixture to a cup of boiling water and let it steep.

After steeping, add a few drops of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of honey, and a pinch of salt.

Massage

Prepare violet oil (with sesame oil as the base) and gently massage your earlobes and the area around your ears daily using small, circular, clockwise motions.
