Are your breasts swollen, inflamed, or painful? Or are there some uninvited guests like cysts, fibroadenomas, abscesses, or benign tumors that have taken up residence in your breast tissue?
In Ayurveda, these issues are often linked to an imbalance in the Kapha dosha. Simply put, when the breast area becomes overly moist, this excess dampness or faulty phlegm (ama) turns the internal environment sticky and heavy.
At first, this sticky phlegm shows up as swelling or inflammation. But if not cleared out, it seeps deeper into the breast tissue, becoming dense and compacted—eventually forming lumps like cysts, fibroadenomas, or benign tumors.
One of the biggest culprits in this process is our diet. The same dietary recommendations for managing ovarian cysts also apply here.
Breast Self-Care & Home Remedies
Castor Oil Breast Massage
Two to three times a week, about ten minutes before your shower, massage your breasts with castor oil using the following method:
Apply castor oil to your hands. For each breast, start massaging from the center of your chest (sternum) outward toward the underarms. Place your thumb on top of the breast and the other four fingers underneath. Then massage the entire breast and underarm area in gentle, clockwise circular motions.
Castor oil is a natural laxative and excellent for moving stagnant lymph and toxins. This massage helps drain accumulated waste and phlegm back into the lymphatic system for elimination. It’s also a wonderful preventive method against breast cancer and the formation of cysts or fibroids.
Note: If you are diagnosed with a malignant tumor, this treatment is not appropriate.
Herbal Paste for Breast Lumps
Mix the following powdered herbs in the given ratios:
Rosemary (2) + Turmeric (1) + Thyme (1) + Cinnamon (1) + Ginger (1/4) + Neem (3) + Myrtle (3)
Two to three times a week, mix 1–2 teaspoons of the herbal powder with warm water to form a soft paste. Apply it directly on the breast area where a cyst, lump, or fibroadenoma has formed. Let it sit for 15–20 minutes before washing it off.
This remedy is also suitable for those currently dealing with breast cancer (non-ulcerated skin).
Cabbage Leaf for Breast Skin Irritation
Got pimples or eczema around the nipple area? Experiencing cracked or sore nipples due to breastfeeding?
Did you know that raw cabbage leaves can be a simple and effective remedy?
Place a raw cabbage leaf inside your bra overnight. Alternatively, during the day, apply a cabbage leaf to the affected area for 20 minutes several times a day.
Be full of health and ease…
