When, where, how much, and how to use it?
Is green cumin a frequent guest in your kitchen too?
What’s its quality?
It’s warm and dry, with a slightly higher degree of warmth… What does that mean? It means people with a warm temperament should consume it carefully and in moderation.
What does it do in our body?
It reduces bloating, aids digestion, burns fat and promotes weight loss, increases milk production, is beneficial for diabetes, has anti-cancer properties, is rich in antioxidants, helps with osteoporosis, acts as an astringent and antidiarrheal, fights parasites and reduces nausea, is diuretic, promotes menstruation, cleanses the uterus, and strengthens memory.
Who should avoid it?
If you frequently get headaches, cumin may increase their occurrence.
If you have acne-prone skin, avoid consuming cumin alone in large amounts, as it may irritate the skin.
Also, excessive consumption can reduce testosterone levels, so men planning to have children should not consume cumin alone in large quantities.
How to use it?
One of the most famous Ayurvedic blends is an equal mixture of fennel, green cumin, and coriander seeds. You can grind these three herbs together and use them as a spice in cooking.
Or combine them as whole seeds, brew them like tea, or chew half a teaspoon of this mix after meals to aid digestion.
Do you get heartburn or acid reflux?
Put one teaspoon of cumin seeds and a few fresh coriander leaves in a cup of hot water and let it steep.
After steeping, add a few drops of lemon juice and one teaspoon of honey, and consume twice a day between meals.
Do you have diarrhea?
Combine the following spices in powdered form according to the ratios below:
Green cumin (2) + Rosemary (1) + Sumac (1)
Every 3 hours, take half a teaspoon of this mixture, mix with honey, swallow, and drink a cup of warm water to stop diarrhea.
Have you overeaten and feel nauseous?
Put one teaspoon of cumin seeds and a pinch of nutmeg in a cup of hot water and let it steep.
After steeping, add a few drops of lemon juice and one teaspoon of honey, and consume twice a day between meals.
Are you breastfeeding and don’t have enough milk?
Every night before sleep, boil a cup of milk with half a teaspoon of green cumin powder, half a teaspoon of fennel powder, and half a teaspoon of rose powder; once slightly cooled, add one teaspoon of honey and enjoy.
Make sure to drink this milk on an empty stomach and have finished dinner at least 3 hours before.
