When, where, how much, and how to use it?
Bright and beneficial turmeric… In Ayurveda, it is considered warm and dry and is said to treat countless stubborn ailments.
Use it abundantly in your cooking… It greatly aids the digestion of all types of foods, especially hard-to-digest foods such as animal proteins, dairy, and eggs. When cooking, combine it with coriander seeds (3 parts turmeric + 1 part coriander seeds). Coriander seeds are cooling and help balance turmeric.
Mixing turmeric with milk helps treat anemia, coughs, and osteoporosis. At night before bed (if hungry), heat a cup of milk with ¼–½ teaspoon turmeric + a pinch (about 1/8 teaspoon) of coriander seeds + a pinch of rose petals. Add 1 teaspoon honey and enjoy. Make sure at least three hours have passed since your previous meal, as this mixture should be consumed on an empty stomach.
If your blood sugar or fat levels are high, early in the morning, add 2 pinches of turmeric + 1 pinch of rose petals to a cup of warm water and drink it on an empty stomach.
Is any part of your body swollen or bruised?
Mix turmeric, cedar, and myrobalan in equal parts, add a little warm water to make a paste, and apply it to the swollen or bruised area.
Is your throat sore?
Add 2 pinches of turmeric + ½ teaspoon salt to a cup of warm water and use it as a gargle regularly.
Have you been burned?
Mix ½ teaspoon turmeric with some fresh aloe vera gel and apply it to the burned area.
Should I take turmeric pills or no?
“I have high blood sugar, high fat, and I gained weight. I heard that if I take turmeric pills from the pharmacy, all my problems will be solved! What do you think?”
Turmeric is a magical plant and considered one of the kings of medicinal herbs in Ayurveda because of its numerous benefits. However, it is also a strong plant warm and dry and consuming it alone and for long periods can cause side effects such as:
* Pain, stiffness, and spasms in the upper body bones and joints
* Overactivity of the liver and excessive bile secretion
* Excess heat (fire element) in the body
* Headaches, yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes
* Irritability, impatience, and agitation
If you want to use turmeric as medicine, it is best to consult a traditional medicine practitioner who can prescribe it in combination with other herbs according to your constitution. If you insist on taking turmeric pills, do not continue for more than 7–10 days at a time, allow your body to rest, and then resume if needed.
