Sunburn

In this summer heat, nothing feels better than a good swim… And since getting a tan is so trendy these days, you lie down in the sun after swimming, completely ignoring your poor skin’s cries, sacrificing its health for beauty!

Sunburn
The next morning, you wake up with a burning sensation on your skin… So how do you rescue it now?

First of all, remember that prolonged exposure to the sun increases the fire element in your body, which throws the Pitta dosha out of balance. So in addition to topical treatments for soothing the sunburn, you should avoid foods that are overly heating and increase the fire element in your body—especially in your skin:

Eggplant, hot spices, all kinds of peppers (like black pepper, red pepper, chili, cayenne, etc.), cinnamon, fennel, ginger, masala, mustard, garlic, onion, scallions, alcohol, chocolate, caffeine, and so on.

So what can you apply to your skin to help soothe it?
Throughout the day, try one of these home remedies a few times:

  • Cut a 1 cm slice from an aloe vera leaf and rub the gel directly onto the sunburned skin.
  • Place cucumber peels or thin slices of raw potato on your skin.
  • If you have a little more time, grate one raw cucumber and one raw potato. Add one tablespoon of fresh aloe vera gel and one teaspoon of rosewater. Blend the mixture, and once smooth, apply it as a compress to your skin.
  • Soak a cotton cloth in cow’s milk or cream and lay it on the affected area.
  • Apply egg white directly to your skin.
  • Steep one tablespoon of teffseeds in a cup of boiling water, let it release its gel and cool down. Soak a cotton cloth or pad in the gel and apply it to your skin.

Be full of health
