Gotten through COVID but your sense of smell hasn’t fully returned?
Try these home remedies to help bring it back:
Mix the following herbs into a powder using the specified ratio:
thyme (3 parts) + powdered neem or roasted chickpea flour (1 part).
Each day, mix 1 teaspoon of this powder with a little warm water into a soft paste and apply it as a poultice over your sinuses and the bridge of your nose. Leave it on for about 20 minutes. (In the first few days, it may sting quite a bit. Don’t worry—it’s not harmful.) After 20 minutes, wash the paste off, dab some rosewater on a cotton ball, and apply it to the skin.
2–3 times a week, rinse your nose using a neti pot (for more info, see the post on neti pot and nasal cleansing).
If you still have postnasal mucus, oil your nostrils 2–3 times a day with violet oil.
If you don’t have postnasal mucus, oil your nostrils once or twice a day with sweet almond oil.
Each morning, burn 1–2 pieces of frankincense in an incense burner and deeply inhale the smoke into your lungs.
