Malasana – Matsyasana

Have you been experiencing swelling or inflammation in your prostate gland? Burning or pain when urinating? Interrupted urine flow? Do you wake up several times at night to urinate? Pain in the pelvic area, lower abdomen, back, or thighs?

In Ayurveda, these issues occur when toxins, thick moisture, or bad phlegm accumulate around the prostate gland. This accumulation leads to swelling and inflammation. In Ayurvedic terms, such problems arise due to a simultaneous imbalance of the Kapha and Pitta doshas — meaning the area around the prostate is filled with heat and dampness, like a hot, sticky mucus.

What to do:

Practicing Malasana (Garland Pose) and Matsyasana (Fish Pose) helps position the bladder, prostate, urinary tract, and genital organs along a downward slope. This posture prevents urine retention and supports full elimination of urine and toxins accumulated around the prostate.

Additionally:

* Avoid holding your urine; never suppress the urge to urinate.

* Avoid standing while urinating. The best position is squatting — similar to using a traditional toilet. If you use a Western toilet, place a small stool under your feet.

* Avoid tight underwear.

* Avoid sitting for long periods on cold surfaces.

* Massage your lower back, sides, navel area, and lower abdomen (between the navel and genitals) 3–4 times a week in circular, clockwise motions for 5–10 minutes using an equal mix of: castor oil + black seed or sesame oil + bitter almond oil.

  If you live outside Iran and can’t find these, use Kapha Massage Oil by Banyan Botanicals.

After the massage, fill a bathtub with warm water and sit in it for 10–15 minutes. If you don’t have a bathtub, fill a basin with warm water and sit under a warm shower with it. Sitting in warm water is very helpful — you can add a little rock or sea salt and some apple cider vinegar to the water.

Constipation can aggravate prostate inflammation. Each night before bed, mix in half a glass of boiling water:

2 tsp khakshir, 1 tsp barhang, 1 tsp ispaghula (psyllium husk), and 1–2 dried apricots.

In the morning, add another half glass of hot water, a few drops of lemon juice, 1 tsp honey, and a pinch of salt, and drink on an empty stomach.

Alongside, make a paste from ½ tsp Triphala or black myrobalan (Haritaki) powder with 1 tsp honey and swallow it.

Chew a small piece of mastic gum daily.

Taking zinc supplements regularly helps reduce prostate inflammation and swelling; use them 2–3 times a week.

If you live outside Iran, get Triphala Guggulu from Amazon and take 1–2 tablets daily.
