Cold Hands and Feet

Hasta-Padasana

Hasta Padasana – Adho Mukha Svanasana

Are your hands and feet always cold?

Did you know that an imbalance in the Vata and Kapha doshas plays a major role in cold hands and feet? When the body is filled with coldness — as if a chilly wind is constantly blowing through its channels, or icy water is flowing through them — warm blood circulation to the hands and feet decreases, and cold penetrates the fingers.

What to do?

By practicing Hasta Padasana (Hand-to-Foot Pose) and Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward-Facing Dog Pose), you can increase blood flow and warmth in your hands and feet.

What else to do?

Did you know that massaging your body with almond oil, black seed oil, or sesame oil boosts circulation under the skin and warms your hands and feet?

Before bed, massage the soles of your feet with one of these oils, and apply a few drops around your navel as well. This not only warms your body but also helps you sleep deeply, calms the Vata (wind) dosha, and restores balance.

Another tip:

Here’s a tea that increases blood circulation and slightly raises blood pressure:

Ingredients:

Cinnamon bark (1) + Lemon balm (1) + Rosemary (1) + Rose petals (1)

Preparation:

Combine the herbs in the specified proportions in a large jar. Your unit of measurement can be anything — for example, one tablespoon. Each time you prepare the tea, steep one teaspoon of this mixture in a cup of boiling water. You can add one teaspoon of lemon juice, one teaspoon of honey, a pinch of saffron, and a pinch of salt to enhance its effects.

Drink this tea 3–4 times a day — but be careful, since these herbs can raise blood pressure. If you have hypertension, avoid overconsumption.

Stay full of health.
