Home Remedies
Do you constantly feel tired? You feel like you eat all the nourishing foods, but still wake up exhausted in the mornings and feel completely drained by evening?
Chronic fatigue in Ayurveda can result from various complex imbalances in the body, but one of the most common causes is the accumulation of toxins and bad phlegm in different channels of the body such as the circulatory system and lymphatic vessels and nodes.
It doesn’t matter how nutritious your food is… if it’s not properly digested and doesn’t reach your cells through the body’s channels, you’ll keep feeling tired, low-energy, and worn out.
So how about we talk about one or two simple, practical methods to cleanse the blockages in your body’s channels?
Try exfoliating your body once or twice a week. This helps move the toxins that are stuck in your body’s channels and sends them back to the digestive tract so they can be eliminated.
Get a massage once a week… if that’s not possible, definitely take things into your own hands and give yourself a full-body massage with a suitable oil for your constitution two or three times a week before bathing. Massage your joints in circular, clockwise motions and the areas between joints with back-and-forth strokes. (To find the right oil for your constitution, read section five on this page.)
Running
Do 20–30 minutes of exercise daily that leads to sweating… for example, go running, cycling, or do cardio workouts. Remember, sweating is one of the most effective ways to eliminate toxins and bad phlegm from the body—don’t underestimate it.
Proper and sufficient sleep plays a key role in your energy levels. Avoid staying up late and waking up late. Go to bed by 10 p.m. and start your day at sunrise (around 5 to 6 a.m.).
Pay attention to your breathing. Avoid shallow, short breaths and instead take deep, full breaths. Breath fills your being with prana, the vital life force—don’t take it lightly.
Be full of health… to be continued
