High Blood Pressure

Nadhi-Shodhana

Shavasana – Nadi Shodhana

Is your blood pressure high?

By practicing Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing) and Shavasana (Corpse Pose), you can help lower your blood pressure naturally.

Shavasana

During Nadi Shodhana, the amount of oxygen entering the body increases, heart rate decreases, blood vessels relax, anxiety reduces, and as a result, blood pressure drops.

Through Shavasana, the body relaxes completely without any tension or pressure. Blood flow becomes smoother and calmer throughout the body. The parasympathetic nervous system becomes active, cortisol and adrenaline levels decrease, and blood pressure naturally comes down.

What to Do?

1. Drink parsley–celery juice on an empty stomach:

Put three handfuls of parsley and one celery stalk into a juicer. Before drinking, add one teaspoon of fennel powder, one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, and one teaspoon of honey.

2. Replace caffeine with herbal teas:

Instead of coffee, instant coffee, or black tea, drink one of the following herbal infusions every hour:

   * Chamomile – Basil – Hibiscus tea:

Add a few fresh basil leaves, one teaspoon of dried chamomile, and a few hibiscus petals to a cup of boiling water. Let it steep.

   * Valerian root – Nettle – Coriander seed tea:

Combine these three herbs (whole, not powdered) in equal proportions. Steep one teaspoon of the blend in boiling water for several minutes.

You can also use Ananda’s Relaxation Tea as an alternative.

3. Berry smoothie:

As a mid-day snack, blend one tablespoon of blueberries, one tablespoon of raspberries, one cup of lukewarm water, and one to two teaspoons of honey.

If you don’t have blueberries or raspberries, substitute them with two tablespoons of edible barberries.

4. Fresh pomegranate juice:

Each morning, juice one or two pomegranates and store the juice in a glass bottle. Every hour, mix two tablespoons of pomegranate juice with one cup of warm water and one teaspoon of honey, and drink it.

5. Cucumber and coriander yogurt drink:

Mix two tablespoons of yogurt with a little water until smooth. Then add one cup of warm water, one grated cucumber (with peel), a handful of chopped fresh coriander, two pinches of thyme, and a pinch of salt. Drink this as a light snack.

6. Spiced watermelon juice:

Add two pinches of cardamom or cumin powder and one pinch of coriander seed powder to one cup of watermelon juice. Drink it as a refreshing, pressure-balancing drink.
